This is Halloween
Halloween has always been a big holiday in the Hall family. I mean you can't spell Halloween without Hall in it. It has been so fun to be back and part of the Halloween festivities with friends and family. First and foremost our Witchapalooza tradition is one of my favorite Fall outings. For years my mom would go with her in-laws and the group slowly morphed into gathering as many friends and neighbors as possible. As with most things the tradition met an abrupt halt during COVID but we slowly have gotten back into it. This year we kept to just the Hall girls and Syd but we have big plans next year to rent out as much of the event space as possible. It's just so fun dressing up like a Witch, walking through the cutest most festive Gardner Village and then enjoying a warm meal and laughing until your stomach aches at the pop parody witch themed show they put on. Like I said such a fun tradition I hope to carry on for years to come!
We also rounded out the week with caramel apples with the young women. We made them just like Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory's white chocolate and cinnamon sugar on Granny Smith's. To. die. for. Pro tip was using Orson GiGi's caramel and white chocolate bricks in the crock pot. Made them so easy to dip and they tasted soo yummy.
We also hosted a Halloween/Dia de Los Muertos party with our friends where we made our fav barilla tacos and hung out played games and of course took lots of pictures. Jaden and I were characters from the movie DUNE. Fav part of our costumes were the spooky blue "spice eyes" contacts. I tried and failed at helping Jaden get the contacts but he blinked way too much for me. Thankfully Landon works for an eye doctor and was able to get them shoved in Jaden's eyes. One ended up being inside out so I think it's safe to say Jaden will avoid contacts in the future at all costs.
The rest of the crew were dressed up as well Sam & Ken were a hunter and deer, Logan and Bryn were John F. and Jackie Kennedy (iconic), and probably the stars of the show were Mady dressed as Landon (complete with a bald cap) and Landon dressed up as a dog. Honorable mentions were Cal and Jill joining us later after pictures as safari tourists with their cutie baby Ivy dressed up like a giraffe.
We played a new version of an existing game we had where normally you are trying to get the group to guess the name of the person. Well Bryn had the idea of doing the opposite where the group knows the name but you have 20 questions to guess who it was. Jaden had the record of a sub 10 question guess. We thought we had him stumped the second round with the name Thomas the Train but he managed to get it within like 7 questions. It was unreal. I was so proud!
Finished off the week with yet another Halloween party this time hosted by my aunt Stephanie. There were plenty of festive treats and we even surprised her with an early birthday present since her bday is on the 3rd.
It was a fun and festive week and just makes me so excited for the rest of the holiday season!
Peaches:
- Finalizing my Witchapalooza outfit. Was pretty proud of my black butterfly edition to my witch hat, inspired by Stephanie Hanna's love of all things Halloween.
- Witchapalooza with the Hall girls
- Cutest shops at Gardner Village
- Putting together our DUNE costumes. This is what the movie characters actually look like and below that was my inspo for a DIY costume
- Went and saw the Taylor Swift movie with my sister in laws. It was a lot of fun but we were all slightly disappointed it wasn't as nostalgic as we had expected. Like only one song from Speak Now?!
- Day after the movie the re-release of 1989 came out and I was hit with so much high school nostalgia including when Megan, Abbey, Abby and I went to her concert. We were just babies!
- Caramel Apples
- Decorating for "dia de los muertos" themed Halloween party
- Costco Peanut Butter Chocolate Mix.. .yummmm
- Made a photo video of our NYC trip
- Mady did a recreate of Magnolia Bakery's famous banana pudding for our dessert she even died it green to make it a little more spooky
- Shopping for new Our Place pans that are on sale right now
- Blue colored contacts
- Jensen's reaction to finding out Alex is having another GIRL!!!
- Cool moon outside of store. Had to go down to Costco and went by the old Smith's I used to shop at when we lived in Bountiful. I was shocked at how many people were dressed up. There was an older couple dressed up as Mary Poppins and a chimney sweep that looked absolutely adorable. I would love to do that as a couple or family costume one year
- Halloween dinner with Halls
Pits:
- Jade had to go out of town for work in Charlotte NC. Still hate dropping him off at the airport
- May or may not have had to barricade all the doors before I could fall asleep without him home and why is it that it's always windy and there's a hundred weird sounds you've never noticed before when you are home alone?!
- Jaden was sick on Sunday and stayed home for the family party
