This week was seriously so jam packed I am grateful we get Monday off for Labor Day because I need an extra day to recover. Monday I drove down to West Jordan to see Melissa Yauney (Stock), my trainer from my mission who I will forever think of and refer to as Yauney because we called each other by our last names. She'll always be Yauney and I'll always be Hall. Yauney had a baby last November and I finally got to go meet her. Sofia is truly the cutest most smiley easygoing baby. So fun to watch my mission companions get married and start families. Yauney has always been an example to me and continues to be so as a new mom. It was fun to ask her about working as a new mom and catch up about all that has happened since we last saw each other which I believe was at her wedding reception back in 2018. Crazy how time flies! So grateful for my mission in TN and the incredible people it led me to.
Tuesday after work I made dinner and then headed over to the church for our Young Women's activity. It's getting to be volleyball season so they did a practice at an outdoor court near our neighborhood. It was combined with all of the girls and I'm slowly getting to know names and am continusously shocked at seeing how grown up so many of the girls I grew up babysitting are!
Wednesday we had Jeff and Amy over for dinner. They hadn't been over to see our apartment yet so now that we feel more settled and have an adult size table we had them over and made hot honey chicken, homemade fries and a balsamic salad with Jaden's favorite Texas sheet cake for dessert. I seriously love spending time with my in-laws and feel so grateful that them and my parents live so near each other which makes visiting both families so accessible. Which speaking off Jeff and Amy told us that Jaden's grandma's old house that is in the same neighborhood as Jeff and Amy is going up for sale soon. Jaden had mentioned that to me a few weeks ago and was like, "you wanna buy grandma's house?" I thought he was joking and was totally in the mindset that we weren't jumping into the housing market so I didn't really take him seriously and laughed it off. But as Jeff and Amy talked to us more and showed us pictures I started getting excited at the possibility. Before we had the conversation we were talking about the crazy interest rates and I literally said, "I just can't even picture where we are going to end up living." But by the end of the night I could honestly picture us living at Grandma and Grandpa Richins house. It would need a lot of work and we have no idea what the price range is but if it worked it could be our ticket to Davis County. The benefit is we know the house, the neighborhood the schools and it would be right in the middle of family. It could seriously be so awesome. More details and lots of prayers to come!
Thursday Jaden was supposed to go to the Utah game with his siblings. Both Amanda and Megan have season tickets but after some of their friends backed out I got invited to go as well. It was so fun to be back in Rice Eccles and that first drive when the Utes through a bomb and scored... it was seriously electric. Jaden is in seventh heaven with football being back and a solid win under our belt. Fall is in the air, football is here. The most wonderful time of the year.
Friday we went and had dinner with my Grandma Jane and Grandpa Richard. Grandma made a yummy pork roast with fresh veggies and salad and a delicious peaches, cool whip and graham cracker dessert. We discussed their 50th anniversary party coming up in October and I was able to gather some pictures of their wedding in 1973 as well as their sealing in 2003. I love looking through old pictures and remember the celebration and dance party we had after they got sealed in the temple in 2003. As my grandparents age I am continually grateful that I get to be back home and nearer to them to continue making memories and learning from them.
Saturday we hung out did chores and watched college football and then later the boys went golfing again and Morgann and I hung out with the kids and watched a movie called Love Again starring Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas and Celine Dion. It was cheesy and had some cringey acting but the soundtrack was awesome and ending was cute. Myla was my buddy again and Tru was happy as long as one of us was standing and bouncing him. It never ceases to amaze me how often babies can sense when you sit down and cry until you stand. I don't understand how they know when you want to relax and are like "nope keep walking and bouncing me please."
Sunday after church my mom's cousin's son Frank got married out on the family farm in Hooper. I spent nearly every Thursday evening out at the ranch with my Grandma Rawson growing up and have so many fond memories out there. My mom's cousin Tanna has since converted the barn and property into a wedding venue and it honestly is so pretty. They've done such a good job with it and it was a fun experience to watch Frank and Alyssa get married and then have some good ol barbeque dinner and ride a mechanical bull setup outside.
Craziest thing was as we were getting seated I looked across the ceremony space and saw my cousin Jackson from my dad's side of the family sitting there. I was so confused and texted him to be sure it was him. Turns out his fiancé is best friends with the bride so they had flown down from Washington to be at the wedding. What a small world! It was a lot of fun to see Jack and meet his fiancé Kristen.
