Rodeos, White Coats & New Apartment
One year my boss flew into town for meetings in Salt Lake and was so confused as to why there were firework shows everywhere on the 24th of July. It made me laugh and appreciate what a fun and unique holiday it is. This year we got invited to go to the days of 47 rodeo in Salt Lake with the Christiansen family. Since we didn't go to Dallas it was fun to dress up and go to a rodeo. Our favorite game we started playing while people watching is "Real or Not Real Cowboy" as different people passed us we'd guess if they were actually real cowboys/cowgirls who lived on farms and actually rode horses or just wannabe's like ourselves. It was a super fun night out with friends even though it started raining at the end.
Saturday rolled around and Jaden and I got up early to journey down to Provo where Sam's white coat ceremony for medical school was held. We are so grateful he and Kennedy got into a school here in Utah so we can see them a lot during this new journey. I had never been to a white coat ceremony before. It honestly was a lot like a graduation. There were lots of speakers and then the bulk of the ceremony was calling the students up one by one where they obviously weren't awarded a diploma yet but were instead given their white coat. It was really cool to see the audotorium floor filled with white coats and to imagine all of the people they will help and lives they will literally save as their careers unfold. So grateful for doctors. And also we were all talking after about how selfishly we are so excited to have a doctor in the friend group especially once we all have kids.
It was sweet to watch Kennedy run up and give Sam a big hug. They've got a long road ahead of them but they've got an awesome support network and cheer squad backing them up and Jaden and I are so happy to be a part of it!
After the ceremony we went and ate at this restaruant called Milagros and oh my gosh maybe I was just extra hungry becasue I hadn't eaten anything all day but it was seriously to die for! I am still thinking about their green chili salsa (I could drink it it was soo good!) and the chicken quesadilla. Seriously even more reason to go visit Sam and Ken so we can go eat there again!
Following lunch we headed back up to KTown and began the long arduous process of moving clear across... the street! All jokes aside it really was a quick and easy move and we are so excited to start to get settled into our new place. Can't believe how it all works out. I know I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it at least 19938923 more times... we are so happy we are home!
Peaches:
- One of my cousins had a just adults family reunion trip in Colorado so he had asked my mom if she would watch his four kids while he and his wife went on the trip. It was a full house at the Hall house but was actually really sweet to watch my parents interact with the kids and gave me a glimpse at what they'll be like as grandparents one day
- Like I said before we are slowly making progress with Mack and I snapped this cute pic of him on Jaden's shoulders at the rodeo. It was so fun watching him see horses and yell "NEIIIIIGHHHH!!!!"
- Went up to my Grandma Moyle's house to comb through some kitchen items and books. I was able to find some awesome vintage glassware and cookware as well as a bin full of my Great Grandma Rawson's things. I was 11 when she passed away but can still remember lots of memories when I'd go spend Thursday evenings with her after I did my hula dance class and my mom went to her class. Grandma Rawson was my buddy and I can't wait to see her again one day
- Watching Jade interact with Sam and his buddies. Their bond is honestly brotherhood (and they are goofballs) and it's something special that all of their wives get along and love to hang out as a group. Everywhere we've turned we've lucked out with awesome friends and we are so grateful
- Had lunch with my friend Alexis from our Bountiful ward. I am so grateful for the time that we lived there and the lasting friendships I made. Also the little crepe shop on Main Street in Farmington is so cute and yummy! Kicking myself that I only got pics of the food and not one with Alexis!
- Started moving over into our new apartment! Can't wait for this next chapter and to have our own space again!
- I'm honestly obsessed with this picture my mission president's daughter posted of him with his grandson out in one of their fields in Idaho. I messaged her and was like "is it weird I want to frame this?" It's seriously so sweet. Love President Pickett and the many lessons he taught us from his life as a sheep and potato farmer
Pits
- There has been a little bit of confusion with move in dates so we haven't been able to unpack quite yet but it's ok we'll get there!
